About Us

Our owner, Lisa Black, was looking for a peppermint truffle for herself when she came upon a recipe and started playing with the technique of chocolate and tempering and ganaches and went from there.

That was in 2013. After getting a business license she began selling her amazing sweets in various events and venues. Up until 2019 she was still selling to friends and family but it wasn't going anywhere, so she decided to take the next step where she could get her chocolate to a place where people could come and purchase them.

With that, Truffles, Etc. was born in January of 2020, delivering homemade chocolates, espresso drinks, and even ice cream after Lisa's husband Mike retired from Micron after 30 plus years and decided to perfect it.

He went to Florida to an ice cream school and learned all about making ice cream and has come back and started playing with flavors and recipes.

The couple were both raised in Idaho and have four Idaho born children as well so keeping everything local is an important part of their business. We use products such as 44 North Vodka, Cinder wine, handpicked huckleberries from McCall, Idaho, and locally sourced peppermint.

But not all our local products are edible as we sell plenty of art and other items made by local artists: from boxes to resin bowls to jewelry to crochet to pictures! We try to get a variety of people in here and when you try just about anything in the shop. For example, you can taste the care that goes into it as most everything we sell is made in shop: a mentality Lisa developed after being raised on a farm in Payette. We used everything possible that we could.

Lisa’s grandpa grew a huge garden and they'd get together as a family and they would can and freeze the produce that he grew. You know we always wanted to make homemade food and it was just something that we enjoyed doing. It doesn't get much more Idaho than Truffles, Etc. where the family, their products, and pretty much their entire list of ingredients are all homemade in Idaho.

We just love Idaho. We love the community here, we love the people here supporting local artisans, and hopefully helping the community revitalize downtown Meridian and make it a destination place.
